Maple syrup

Pure maple syrup is a natural sweetener made from the sap of maple trees. It has a unique, woody and caramel-like flavor, very different from artificial pancake syrups.

A classic on pancakes and waffles, but also excellent for glazing vegetables (like carrots and Brussels sprouts), in meat marinades, or for sweetening yogurt.

Storage & tools

  • Store in a cool, dry pantry (under 21 °C / 70 °F) away from direct sunlight.
  • Use airtight containers to keep humidity out — dry ingredients gain 1–2 % mass in humid air.
  • Rotate stock: first in, first out, even when the product looks unchanged.
  • Check best-by dates; potency can fade before the product looks old.

Refrigerate after opening to prevent mold growth. It can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a year.
